Messier 11
The rich Wild Duck open star cluster Messier 11 stands out prominently in this
great image, created by David Malin from photographic plates taken with the
3.9-meter Anglo-Australian Telescope.
Note the bright yellow and red stars, which are intermediate-aged giants.
Their occurance suggests that the cluster must have an age of several hundred
million years.
